People Powered Planning in District 11

We are flipping the script!  Instead of waiting for developers to make over our neighborhoods, neighborhood leaders in District 11 are doing it for themselves.  Working class, inmigrante, and people of color folks are stepping forward to plan their own neighborhoods and create community-based development that meets people’s needs.

That’s how over 300 abuelitas, high school youth, Filipino & Black elders, janitors, Latino & Chinese parents, and caregivers shared their ideas and priorities around housing affordability, community based development, public spaces, and neighborhood-based decision making on public land such as the Balboa Upper Yard.

Brought to you by Communities Uniting for Health & Justice, our people powered alliance in District 11 made up of PODER, Filipino Community Center, Coleman Advocates, Chinese for Affirmative Action, and Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center.
